For pet portraits, these sizes are guidelines meant to help you decide what size works best for where you will hang it.

Small: 8” x 8”. This is a great size for kitchen and mudroom nooks, or over your desk. It’s the most popular size that clients order to give as a thoughtful gift.

Medium: 12” x 12”. This canvas is perfect to anchor a special gallery wall or shrine that you’ve created for your beloved pet.

Large: 20” x 20”. These portraits become excellent statement pieces. Depending on the size of your pet, the large canvas may portray them as life-size or in some cases, even larger than life.

I like to work on square canvases for pet portraits and I feature one pet per canvas. This lets their unique personality come through and celebrates their individuality in a clean visual expression characteristic of contemporary fine art portraiture. If you have 2 or more pets – I have littermates and I appreciate the bond of multiple pets – we can discuss how best to portray them.
